April 2026
Monthly Wrap!
March was an incredible month. I can’t believe how quickly it went!
Some of our family highlights:
We celebrated Elsie’s 6th Birthday!! I took her out to breakfast on her birthday and then it was her dad’s time that evening, so we celebrated the following day with making build-a-bears, getting her ears pierced, and Hibachi for dinner!
She also had a party toward the end of the month where I had 50+ kids over for a big Barbie party! It was a blast and I received so many compliments on how much fun the parents had. There is something about a home party that allows parents to meet and mingle while their kids just run around and, ahhh, it is just so nice!
We built the most adorable leprechaun traps during the Home Depot Kids Workshop. They run every first Saturday of the month at 9am and it is so much fun, and it is FREE!!
Our leprechaun did not get trapped, but they did leave us chocolate coins, which was a fun consolation prize.
We also went ice skating, attended a glow party, and moved up in gymnastics! It was a busy month!
What we’re looking forward to this month:
Spring Break! I was unable to trade parenting time, so the girls and I are going to Chicago to visit family and to have a mini getaway.
My mom is coming with us and we all plan to drive and visit Shedd Aquarium on our way in, stay in the ‘burbs.
Then, just Elsie and I are going downtown via the train to see Hamilton (this will be my 4th time seeing Hamilton since I first saw it less than a year ago 😅 - it helps that I have a really good, lifelong friend in the show)
Easter. We have a cute little cooking craft that we will do, and I am excited about the baskets this year. Last year I kind of half-assed the baskets, so I’m ready to redeem myself (not that the girls care at all!)
Waking up the Garden by cleaning out my raised beds and planting some of the cool season flowers - mostly sweet peas. This year, we are doing all flowers in the garden and I’m really excited to have something a bit more low maintenance that fills my cup - we’ll go to the farmer’s market for any necessary veggies!
A Common Theme I Noticed in The Collective this month: RAGE
As someone who has experienced abuse and has felt completely out of sorts, it was a little bit triggering to see the Taylor Paul video that surfaced in March. I don’t know or even care to know details (I don’t know MomTok and I don’t know Mormon Wives), but something in that video spoke to ME. Regardless of the truth or the story, this video reminded me of what reactive abuse looks like and it broke my heart thinking about all of the women who have been holding things in for so long and release in ways that don’t feel like themselves.
A few days before that story broke, I had it on my heart to figure out how to let out my rage. I had an Akashic records reading once a few years ago and she told me that I had a lot of rage and I was shocked. I rarely get angry, but Rage? That was a whole new level and it freaked me out that someone even thought I could have that in me, but I decided to listen and be open to it.
For a few years, I sat in awareness of it. I journaled a lot. I let myself cry in the shower, scream-sing to songs, and did the occasional angry sprint on the treadmill at the gym, but I didn’t let myself “go there.” Deep down, I knew I might genuinely fall apart and I didn’t want to face the truth of everything that I had been through.
So, now that I was in this really solid, healthy state of being - motherhood, work, friends, co-parenting, everything feels secure - I decided to spend some time welcoming my rage and wanted to make an entire month of it. I made a list of everything I wanted to do in my rage month:
Visit a Rage Room
Scream into Lake Michigan in the freezing cold the way they do in Chicago
Read the book “Rage Becomes Her”
Do 30 Days of Anger Release Breathwork (From videos on Youtube)
Take a Boxing Class
It’s funny, I tried a few of these things and found my outlet immediately. I posted on a local page asking for any boxing classes to help me let out my rage and I got so many replies, but two stuck out to me. One were a few posts about a local Boxing Coach on the other side of town. I looked at his videos on his Instagram and it was pretty intimidating with men fighting. Then, another woman reached out who does intuitive weightlifting, helping women release emotions and guiding them spiritually, which is totally up my alley! I was ready to choose her to help me when the Boxing Coach replied to my question about if we’d use a bag (because I didn’t want to do the moves on the videos I saw, haha!) and he replied with “No, I don’t use a bag, but I’ll let you punch me as hard as you want.” Done. Sold. He was hired. I realized that punching a man as hard as I wanted was EXACTLY what I needed to let out my rage.
I haven’t fallen apart yet, and I don’t think I will. I can feel that I have released so much stuck energy in my hips and my shoulders and I am getting this beautiful experience of learning how to defend myself, re-connecting to my body again, and I have the space to transmute so much anger into something beautiful.
My Challenge to my Community:
Let your rage be known without judgement. Take one step deeper - a little bit further than feels comfortable (in a safe and controlled environment), to see if you can release something that has been a bit stickier to let go. See how this impacts your daily life, how you show up for your children, work, and friends. Notice any realizations or clarity that comes through now that you aren’t “blind with [maybe even subconscious] rage.”
Share your rage outlet with others to inspire and collaborate, and share your experience.
